Hebrews 3

What does it truly mean to consider Jesus? Not just as a passing thought or a Sunday ritual, but as a daily, full, and deliberate act of the mind and heart. As we journey through Hebrews chapter 3, we discover that the word translated 'consider' carries a compound meaning in the original Greek -- one that points to a daily, full perception of who Christ is. This is not a polite suggestion from Scripture. It is a necessary requirement, built on a progression of powerful 'therefores' woven through Hebrews chapter 2. Each one builds on the last -- a logical warning not to drift, a cosmic reality about the incarnation, and a non-negotiable requirement rooted in what Christ accomplished for us. Because Jesus became fully like us in order to absorb the wrath we were owed and provide propitiation for our sin, we are now called to be holy. Not to earn salvation, but as the natural outflow of having received it. The apple does not fall far from the tree. If Christ is truly our Lord, our lives will look increasingly like his. This message connects all the way back to Deuteronomy 6, where God commanded his people to let his words saturate every moment of their day -- sitting, walking, lying down, rising up. The call has never changed. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and so is his expectation that those who belong to him would reflect him. We are invited to ask ourselves honestly: what sort of people ought we to be?
